- There is a handicap accessible lift near the Home Avenue entrance with a handicap accessible bathroom in the Fellowship Hall. A second set of bathrooms is down the stairs at the Home Avenue entrance. Please ask an usher for help with the lift or if you have any other questions.
- Jesus told us to let the children come to Him, because such as theirs is the kingdom of God. We encourage parents of young children to keep their children in worship. We understand that children will make extra noise. We celebrate the noises of small children, because their presence as a part of our community is important to us. If you would like to remove your child from worship, we have an unstaffed nursery downstairs.
- The Service of Evening Prayer contrasts the images of light and darkness as a way to describe the light of Christ entering a dark world. The presence of Christ entering the sanctuary at evening is symbolized by the candle entering the sanctuary during the opening verses. The songs depict a hopeful congregation looking to Christ to deliver them from the darkness of the world as they send up the incense of repentant prayer to God.
When we worship the Lord, we are enabled through Him to serve others.
Concordia has ample opportunities for every person to serve their Lord with special talents and gifts.
The list below includes many areas in which you may choose to serve our loving God and others.
It takes a lot of hands for Sunday worship to come together. We need ushers to hand out bulletins and guide the congregation in worship. Readers deliver the word of God from the Old Testament and Epistles of the New Testament. Worship assistants help to distribute The Lord’s Supper. Hosts offer snacks and coffee following our service before Bible study. Youth acolytes light candles and help with worship. We always need more people.
SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER
Sunday school, for children between two and fourteen, is every Sunday from 10:45am-11:45am. We teach children stories from the Old and New Testaments to help them understand our place in God’s story of salvation. We are looking for teachers who love children and want to share the love of Christ with them.
Concordia Lutheran Church always needs skilled hands to maintain our building and grounds. If you have some skill in carpentry, plumbing, electric, or are just generally good at using tool, please volunteer to help us out. Keeping our building looking good for guests and members alike shows our care and concern for Christ and his message in the gospel.
The work of the church is so much more than what happens on a Sunday morning. To keep everything running smoothly, we always need volunteers to help in our office. We have tasks like filing, organizing, and even counting our offerings that need people to do them.
Lutheran Women’s Missionary League
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) often hosts opportunities for our congregation to serve in the world. With service projects for organizations like Phil’s Friends (supporting cancer patients through care packages), Ronald McDonald House, Feed My Starving Children (food for the starving overseas), and others they help Concordia reach out in mercy with God’s love to people who need it.
